Who We Are:

The Mornington Youth & Citizens Brass Band is a community-based brass band on the Mornington Peninsula.

Established in the late 1800’s under a different name, the Mornington Youth and Citizens Band may have changed names and members over the years, but has always maintained its sense of community and inclusivity.

The band performs a wide range of community functions from Main St. Festival in Mornington, to traditional events such as Anzac Day and Australia Day. Rehearsing every Tuesday, we cover a range of repertoire styles including marches, classical, blues, jazz, gospel and contemporary pop, and are always looking for new members to join us.

We welcome all players no matter the age, ability or experience, and we support all members whether they’re looking to develop their skills, play for fun amongst friends or compete at a higher level.

Our aim is to create a fun, friendly and welcoming space for brass players to come, play and socialise with other keen players.

Our Band and Training Band rehearsals cater to a wide range of ages, skills and experience.

The Training Band:

The Training band rehearse every Tuesday from 6:45pm - 7:30pm at The Pavilion in Mornington.

These rehearsals are best suited for players in their first few years of learning their instrument, and those who are taking their first steps in learning and developing their sound production, reading skills and ensemble experience.

The Training Band strives to encourage and develop emerging players as they gain experience working and blending with those around them in an encouraging environment.

As players progress through Training Band practice, they may continue to develop alongside more experienced players in The Band Rehearsals.

The Band:

The Band rehearses from 7:30pm - 9:00pm every Tuesday at The Pavilion in Mornington.

For developing players, The Band provides an environment to hone and develop your skills, with opportunities to mentor or to be mentored by others.

For more experienced players, The Band explores a range of repertoires and music styles to suit everyone, providing a place to play alongside and socialise with members of the community. We also have opportunities to compete in competitions for those who are interested.
